This course is for people who know that community, that feeling of being and belonging, doesn’t just happen. When intention and the skillful application of knowledge and methods in group facilitation are combined with people who deeply care and are committed to bringing their best for the world, community is made and change happens.
Through readings, videos, personal reflection, exercises, and eDiscussions,this eCourse will help you develop your understanding and refine your facilitation skills to cultivate this artistry in convening groups. In this interactive and experiential, 5-week, 12-hour eCourse, you will:
- Compare traditional and contemporary orientations to facilitation;
- Explain your personal facilitation “stance” grounded in your values, beliefs, and assumptions;
- Identify your current and “growing edge” facilitation competencies;
- Differentiate from among a range of suitable facilitator interventions and protocols for several group dynamics;
- Apply ideas and insights to your current practice, describing the implications and impacts.
Instructor: Katharine Weinmann, MSW, RSW has a Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) designation with the International Association of Facilitators, the global, standard-setting and accreditation body. With three decades of experience in process design and group facilitation, and trained in the Art of Hosting, she now brings her skills and talents into multiple sector contexts to help people creatively work together to address complex issues. CE Credit: This eCourse qualifies for 12 CEUs (e.g., 12 Category A credits under the ACSW competence requirements). This eCourse is applicable to all social work categories. Other professionals: Contact your regulatory board to determine course approval. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded upon successful completion of the discussion questions, post-test and course evaluation.
How it Works: This 12-hour, 5-week eCourse is presented in five parts, one each week. Throughout, you’ll be reading, viewing the weekly “Core Lesson” videos, engaging in personal reflection and online focused conversation, and discussing the implications for this program for your practice. You can expect make a 2-3 hour commitment per week.

Post test & Evaluation: The post test is open book and you have three chances to succeed. A 70% grade is required to pass. Access the post test will be made available upon registration.
